BUSH PULLS A REAGAN, CLAIMS NO RECOLLECTION OF CIA TAPES

President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Shotgun Cheney claimed no knowledge of having destroyed CIA interrogation tapes, according to a White House spokesperson.

The tapes, made in 2002, supposedly contained new ‘alternative’ interrogation methods used on suspected al-Qaeda terrorists. The tapes were destroyed in 2005 when the CIA determined that they no longer held importance for intelligence purposes but could constitute a security risk.

White House spokesperson Dana Perino stated, “I spoke to the president this morning about this. He has no recollection of being made aware of the tapes or their destruction before yesterday. He was briefed by (CIA director) General Hayden yesterday morning.”

Democratic presidential hopeful Chris Dodd remarked on the episode, “There’s something going on here.” He went on to say that the innocent act Bush is putting out there was “stretching credulity.”

An innocent act it is. Bush is obviously covering up for his cronies and his own immoral policies once again. It’s a virtual certainty that the ‘alternative’ interrogation methods involved torture- perhaps waterboarding or some other heinous action. Perhaps if the heat stays on Bush this time he’ll finally come clean. I wouldn’t count on it, but one can hope.
